Celebrating Autism Acceptance Month

April 17 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Join us Friday, April 17, from 12 to 2 p.m. for a Statewide Continuing Education Workshop on Celebrating Autism Acceptance Month.

This free webinar will provide an overview of the American Association of People with Disabilities and the Autistic Self Advocacy Network.

AAPD (American Association of People with Disabilities) is a national disability rights organization representing over 71 million people with disabilities in the United States. They do this by promoting equal opportunity, economic power, independent living, and political participation through their programs and advocacy. In this session, learn about AAPD and the ways AAPD advocates for the rights of people with disabilities on a federal and state level. Learn ways to get involved and about AAPD’s work to promote independence and acceptance for autistic and neuro-divergent people.

The Autistic Self Advocacy Network seeks to advance the principles of the disability rights movement with regard to autism. ASAN believes that the goal of autism advocacy should be a world in which autistic people enjoy equal access, rights, and opportunities. They work to empower autistic people across the world to take control of our own lives and the future of their common community and seek to organize the autistic community to ensure their voices are heard in the national conversation about them. Nothing About Us, Without Us! ASAN is the largest US-based autism organization led by and for autistic adults. Learn about autism, their work, policy priorities, and how you can get involved!

Register now to attend! This meeting will be held virtually on Zoom.
