Supported Decision-Making: Protecting Rights, Ensuring Choices; and Aging Caregivers
April 11 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Join us Friday, April 11, from 12 to 2 p.m. for a Statewide Continuing Education Workshop on Supported Decision-Making: Protecting Rights, Ensuring Choices; and Aging Caregivers.
This session will review the theory and practice of Supported Decision-Making (SDM) and Supported Decision-Making Agreements (SDMAs) as a powerful alternative to more restrictive, substitute decision-making models. Participants will learn the history of SDM in Virginia and the efforts of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) to advance its utilization. This session will also cover resources designed to assist individuals, families, and professionals in utilizing SDM and SDMAs effectively to help people be self-determined, have better life outcomes, and avoid unnecessary guardianship.
Register now to attend! This meeting will be held virtually on Zoom.
