Radford University worked with schools and parents in Waynesboro City and Pulaski County. Together, they fought for more inclusion in schools. They reached this goal through their 3 Cs Inclusion Project:
- Cultural shift
- Collaborative inclusion teams
- Coaching to school personnel
A cultural shift happens when people change their beliefs and how they act. This project made a cultural shift happen though inclusion teams and workshops. The teams made action plans. They organized training for school staff, youth and family members. They partnered with outside organizations that support disability awareness and disability pride activities. The workshops took place at six conferences. At the workshops, parents and youth with developmental disabilities learned to use their voices. They could then use their voices to fight for more inclusion in their school and communities.
During this project, the grantee made a video about their 3Cs Model. They gave project data to the Board for two years, through September 2023.
